@cledocumenters @signalcleveland A little history on a couple of the buildings on today’s agenda. Item #1, the Caxton Building was established in 1903 and is a landmark building with contemporary and custom workspaces for growing businesses located near RocketMortgage and Progressive Field.

@cledocumenters @signalcleveland Commission members discuss purpose of permits for construction work and need to educate the public on the permit process. There will be additional communication with the property owner to bring the case back before the commission.
@cledocumenters @signalcleveland Next on the agenda is Concept Plans and first up is Case 22-099 Ohio City Historic District which seeks an addition and site improvements to property located at 4211 Franklin Blvd. Presenting for the property owner is Tyler Rice with TWR Architecture LLC.

@cledocumenters @signalcleveland Commission Member Michele Anderson says the project does not conform to the compatibility guidelines of the Secretary standards - it can be distinguishable but not glaringly different. Otherwise, the project interferes with historic designation.
@cledocumenters @signalcleveland Property owner, Jeff Zelmer says there has been a significant investment in the project including getting over 90 cats out of the structure. Zelmer asks what can be done to make the project design acceptable.
@cledocumenters @signalcleveland Commission Member Robert Strickland says the compliance issue pertains more to the “addition” which is not compatible. Commission member Anderson refers the property owner to the commission’s website.

@cledocumenters @signalcleveland According to Karl Brunjes, at the beginning of the new year, everything will be done in house by the Landmarks Commission - it will no longer be relying on local design review committees. This will allow design and zoning issues to be caught early.
