A community member said he wants his nonprofit, the Akron Baseball Project, to partner with Akron Public Schools (APS) for students to be able to play baseball year round.

Michael Robinson (Superintendent) acknowledged upcoming holidays such as parents day and school administrator appreciation day. He congratulated Schumacher CLC for placing in the top 16 in an Orlando technology competition

Robinson said there will be a solution for the independent van driver issue at the July 22nd regular board meeting. He said he will meet with van vendors that will be a temporary solution for this school year until a permanent solution is found in December

The minutes from the June 24th regular board meeting passed unanimously All personnel recommendations passed unanimously. Perry asked if the new special education specialist would effect the general budget Robinson said it will come from grant funding

Molenaur said the language says the position must be paid for by the general fund if grant funding falls short. She asked if the extra funding will require board approval Robinson said it will go to board approval and said social workers are "vital" in schools

Hall said she is concerned about the recent spike in resignations Robinson said a spike occurs every summer and December as teachers retire at the end of semesters The personnel recommendations passed unanimously

The Consent Agenda passed unanimously Molenaur thanked administration for answering questions about student recruitment spending and recognized funding for Firestone's Harry Potter and Six the Musical Business Affairs Recommendations passed with Alexander abstaining from 24.2

Autry requested discussion items for the upcoming School Boards Retreat She recognized grants from the GAR Foundation and a grant for Tennis Teams at North and Garfield CLC from the Northeastern Ohio Tennis Association

Molenaur requested approval of policies from the Legal, Contracts, & Board Policies including NEOLA policies Sykes said policy 5120 creates annual district school boundaries redistricting with required public outreach All policies passed unanimously

An attorney said board members cannot use funds to support or oppose the passage of a levy. She said the board can use district funds to communicate objective FACTS about the levy in writing or in meetings including meetings that are in support or opposition of the levy.
